I am so proud! “Moving On” has just screened at Stockport Film Festival and won runner up!!! I was told that there were over 300 entries and the vast majority were all made by sixth form students – did I mention that I was very very pleased with this?!?!
As well as seeing “Moving On” on the big screen I met lots of amazing young filmmakers who I’m hopefully going to stay in touch with. I’ve also heard a talk by AND got to meet the amazing producer Mark Herbert (Warp Films) – he was really really nice! The talk he gave has really inspired me and so as soon as I got home I had to start making another short film – a character study and totally unscripted. Mark said that he thought that short films were a lot about finding the right people to work with and exploring characters in a very kind of unstructured (or less structured) way. I think he’s right and I’m going to make a lot more shorts and worry less about the details and just focus on character and story – after all I do have a lot to learn still.
